Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy: LOBGESANG

Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy's "Hymn of Praise" is the focus of a large choral and orchestral concert in the Herz-Jesu-Kirche Graz on Saturday, July 25, 2026. The performance begins at 7:30 p.m.

For the performance, several ensembles and soloists will collaborate. The soprano parts will be taken by Margret Giglinger and Michiko Echigoya, and Gerd Jaburek will sing as tenor. Together with the choir of the Herz-Jesu-Kirche and the choir of the CHOR-ORGEL-WERK St. Lambrecht, Capella Calliope will present the work. The musical direction is in the hands of Matthias Unterkofler.

Mendelssohn's "Hymn of Praise" combines symphonic and vocal sections into a grand spiritual work. The scoring with soloists, two choirs, and orchestra gives the concert in the Herz-Jesu-Kirche a correspondingly extensive musical framework. The church space will become the setting for a performance where choir, orchestra, and solo voices are closely interconnected.
