Exhibition: ‘Aufbruch Heimat(en)’ Part 1
The exhibition "Departure Toward Home(s) Part 1" at Café Marie in Eggersdorf near Graz showcases works by nine regional artists who reinterpret the concept of home from diverse perspectives.
Admission is free!
What does homeland mean in a world that is constantly changing? This question is addressed by the exhibition “Departure Homeland(s) Part 1”, which will be presented at Café Marie in Eggersdorf near Graz. Nine regional artists engage with the themes of identity, rootedness, and new beginnings through various artistic approaches, materials, and forms of expression.
The deliberately chosen exhibition title serves as a sign against the political appropriation of the concept of homeland. Instead of understanding homeland as a static place, the exhibition focuses on its complexity and transformability. Homeland is perceived as a connecting element that emphasizes openness and social diversity and opens new perspectives on living together in the 21st century.
Works by Roswitha Liebminger (ceramics), Isabella Müller-Fuchs, Regina Peier, Theresia Plank-Zebinger, Doris Sailer, Carolina Sales Teixeira, and Esther Wendt (painting), Hans Steffin (pen drawing), and Robert Wendl (sculpture) will be on display.
The opening will take place on Tuesday, July 14, 2026, at 7:00 p.m. at the Gold & Pech Theater. The program will be hosted by Valerie Schiller, with Eva Jiménez accompanying the evening on the piano and Bernhard Valta complementing the opening with literary contributions. The catering will be provided by Café Marie.
Admission to the opening is free. The venue is easily accessible by public transport – via Postbus lines 300, 350, 352, and 470 (stop Höf-Deckerweg) – as well as by car. Parking is available directly at the location.
