EinBLICK - Conrad Laib und die Kreuzigung
The "Crucifixion in the Crowd" is the largest Gothic panel painting in the Alpine region. Painted by Conrad Laib in 1457, it is the most valuable panel painting of this period in Austria. Emperor Friedrich III commissioned it as decoration for his chapel.
As a "Wimmelbild," the image depicts the crucifixion of Jesus and invites you to discover exciting details. The most significant panel painting in the Alpine region, situated at the transition from the Late Gothic to the Renaissance, can be seen in the Friedrich Chapel of Graz Cathedral. This chapel, adorned with frescoes, is located on the first floor and can only be accessed by stairs (not accessible).
