Christmas talk with a nativity display
How do images tell the Holy Night? A Christmas lecture with Elisabeth Brenner followed by a nativity scene display at Stift Rein prepares for the upcoming Christmas celebration.
Tickets required.
Discover the Christmas story in pictures and view the Holy Night from a new perspective. On Sunday, the 20th of December 2026, the pictorial representation of the Christmas story is the focus at Stift Rein. Under the title The Mystery in the Picture – how pictures tell the Holy Night, a lecture by Elisabeth Brenner combines art appreciation with a subsequent nativity scene exhibition.
For centuries, images have told the story of Christ's birth. They make biblical events visible and convey the significance of the Holy Night through figures, gestures, and pictorial representations. The lecture centers on how such images tell their stories and what thoughts they can convey.
Elisabeth Brenner approaches the Christmas event from the perspective of its pictorial representation. The topic opens a path to familiar motifs of the Christmas story and encourages a more conscious perception of them.
Following the lecture, there will be a visit to the nativity exhibition at Stift Rein. The nativity scene exhibition provides the opportunity to view the Christmas story through its representations and deepens the impressions from the lecture.
