The new Packer Stausee Tour 184 takes mountain bikers from Modriach to Packer Stausee and back via Herzogberg. A varied ride along scenic forest trails through the peaceful countryside and rolling hills of western Styria.

This mountain bike tour starts in Modriach and follows quiet roads past traditional farmsteads towards Packer Stausee. Along the southern shore, the route joins the Packer Cycle Route R29, following a scenic gravel path right beside the water.

A steep climb leads up to the village of Pack, followed by a natural trail descending back towards the reservoir. From Stampf, a longer gravel climb takes riders to the former Blochwirt inn. The route then crosses an open plateau with meadows and peaceful forest tracks towards Herzogberg.

Quiet country roads and a section along the Modriachbach lead to the Hoislifte in Modriach-Winkel, before returning to the starting point.

With its mix of surfaces, challenging climbs and sweeping views of the rolling hills of western Styria, this tour offers plenty of variety. Riding along the shores of Packer Stausee is one of its highlights.

By car:Take the A2 motorway and exit at Modriach, then continue towards the village centre. Parking is available at Steirerrodel summer toboggan.

Start
The tour starts in the small village of Modriach, initially climbing along a quiet local road past large farmsteads. The route then follows the Packer Cycle Route R29 along the southern shore of Packer Stausee. A steep climb on the paved Stauseewinkelweg leads up to the village of Pack, followed by a narrow natural trail descending back towards the reservoir.

From Stampf, a long, steady gravel climb leads up to the former Blochwirt inn. The route continues across an open plateau with meadows and peaceful forest tracks towards Herzogberg. Quiet country roads and a section along the Modriachbach lead to the Hoislifte in Modriach-Winkel.

Return
Quiet country roads lead back to Modriach, where the tour ends at the starting point.

Travelling by public transport with a bicycle is unfortunately not possible. The RegioBus provides connections for passengers without bicycles.
