From the Mur to Almenland: Scenic mountain ride with swimming spots, starting and ending in Frohnleiten.

Short but challenging, this loop over the Heuberg is well suited for experienced riders as well as gravel and mountain bikes. The tour starts at Volkshauspark in Frohnleiten, right on the Mur. The route first follows a flat section to Schrems before climbing steadily along a stream towards Tyrnau.

After crossing the bridge, the route follows the signposted Dragon MTB Trail, climbing the Heuberg on forest tracks with switchbacks. The ascent is followed by a steep downhill section through woodland, descending around 350 metres. Along the way, impressive views open up towards the Rote Wand and the Graz Highlands.

A short connection on the Mur Cycle Path (R2) leads to Tieber Lake. After crossing the new Mur cycle bridge and passing through Röthelstein, the scenic swimming lake invites a refreshing break. The return ride follows the right bank of the Mur via Laufnitzdorf and Rothleiten back to Frohnleiten, where a walk through the town and a culinary stop round off the tour.
