Furtner Pond
Neumarkt in der Steiermark
The Furtnerteich is not only a paradise for swimming and fishing with a beautiful sunbathing lawn and bathing pier, but also a breeding ground and stopover for migratory birds on their journey from north to south and vice versa. Thus, it is obvious that there is a bird sanctuary around the Furtnerteich, which can be experienced up close along a circular path.
During a cozy walk along the circular trail, you'll find yourself swept away by the beauty. Water lilies, mallards, coots, great crested grebes, and moorhens share the 12.5 ha pond with numerous fish and toads.
More information about the Furtner Teich circular trail.
Countless bird species love this paradise just as much as fish, dragonflies, and of course the bathers who enjoy the true luxury of life here for free. The untouched and species-rich shoreline is an internationally significant resting place for numerous migratory birds. This is also why the Styrian Provincial Bird Protection Office is located here.
Additionally, the Furtner Teich in Mariahof is no longer a secret tip among fishermen.
