The name says it all for this leisurely hike, which includes wonderful views of St. Lambrecht.

The hike runs from St. Lambrecht to Spitalberg. The last part of the route promises some cooling relief on warm summer days, leading first through the forest and then along the cool bed of the Kühlbach stream back to St. Lambrecht.

By car from Germany
From Munich, take the A8 towards Salzburg. From Salzburg, take the A10 Tauern Autobahn to St. Michael im Lungau. Take the B 96 to Tamsweg, then continue on the B 95 to Predlitz. The B 97 leads via Stadl/Mur to Murau. At the roundabout, head to Murau train station and continue via Laßnitz bei Murau to St. Lambrecht. The monastery is located in the town center.

Arriving from eastern Austria/Hungary
At the motorway junction in St. Michael bei Leoben, take the S 36 towards Klagenfurt. Pass Knittelfeld and Judenburg to Scheifling. In Scheifling, continue towards Klagenfurt to Neumarkt, via Unzmarkt and Perchau am Sattel. In Neumarkt in Styria, turn right towards Mariahof. In Mariahof, turn left after the railroad crossing towards St. Lambrecht. The monastery is located in the center of St. Lambrecht.

Arriving from southern Austria/Italy
Via Klagenfurt on the S37, past St. Veit/Glan, Treibach, and Friesach. In Friesach, continue towards Vienna, via Dürnstein and Wildbad to Neumarkt in Styria. After Neumarkt, turn left towards Murau, in Mariahof turn left after the railroad crossing towards St. Lambrecht. The monastery is located in the center of St. Lambrecht.

When we stand in front of the monastery gate in St. Lambrecht, we turn left along Badgasse and pass the swimming pool. We cross the swimming pool parking lot and follow the road to the right, which leads uphill to Spitalberg. At the first left turn, we continue straight ahead into the forest and stay on this path until we reach Koglbauer. There, we turn sharply left and come onto the road. We follow this straight ahead to the Kralmoar farmstead, shortly after which we turn left onto a dirt road. When this leads into the forest, we turn left again and now walk downhill. When we come back to the swimming pool parking lot, we take the same path back to the starting point.
