A scenic circular hike at the foot of the Zirbitzkogel for young and old alike.

The panoramic circular hiking trail leads from the Tonnerhütte to the Herterhöhe. At this beautiful vantage point, there is a nature reading island that invites you to linger and enjoy the view. Along the way, information boards provide details about local wildlife.

Coming from Judenburg via Unzmarkt to Scheifling. In Scheifling fo straight on until you reach Neumarkt. In Neumakrt turn left in the direction of Mühlen. Here the road leads directly through the forest to the Tonnerhütte.

Coming from Tamsweg via Ranten or Stadl an der Mur always straight on to Murau. From Murau continue to Teufenbach. In Teufenbach keep right to Neumarkt. In Neumarkt keep left to Mühlen. Here the road leads directly through the forest to the Tonnerhütte.

Start at the parking lot of the Tonnerhütte and follow the slightly ascending forest road to the hairpin bend 1. Continue along the forest road in a northwesterly direction to the vacation home settlement on the Hohe Hald. In the area of this vacation home settlement is the "Zirbienallee".

Follow the forest road that continues to rise slightly, pass the fork in the road to the Sigmundhütte and continue to the fork in the road "Kplmer Hütte-Zirbitzkogel" on the Herterhöhe. In the vicinity of this fork in the path (about 50m to the south) there is a consipicuous stone structure - a true viewing platform with a magnificent views of the Görtschitztal.

From this vantage point, head SW on the marked path from the Zirbitzkogel to the Tonnerhütte, passing a pasture fence, you reach the tree line. Continuing now slightly downhill, past a high seat similar to a pulpit, theh path leads ober the left edge of the ski slope back to the hairpin bend 1 of the forest road and on this further in a westerly direction back to the Tonnerhütte.
