Kreischberg summit

Open
This tour is a difficult route that should not be underestimated.
Away from the main road, you cycle through the countryside directly to the summit of the Kreischberg. The route offers a fantastic view of the Murau region - once you reach the summit, all the effort is worth it. Although this is a signposted mountain bike route, we ask that you respect the retreat of the animals on the mountain pasture.

Starting from the Murradweg R2, head south at the junction at the Kreischberg Wirt to the Kreischberg parking lot. From there, a forest path leads behind or to the left of the Kreischberghalle up towards Kreischberg. Follow the signs upwards. After approx. 5 km, at the crossroads to the middle station, the Grillboden inn and the Edelweißhütte hut offer refreshment stops (please note opening times!). Follow the forest path in serpentines for 3.8 km until you reach the Kreischbergbahn mountain station.

Here you can stop for refreshments at GH Kreischbergwirt, Rieglerhütte and Berg 7. You are at an altitude of approx. 1,771 m above sea level.

From here, follow the path towards the mountain summit. The trail continues through sparse Swiss stone pine forests to the Kreischberg summit and the Eagle restaurant (not open in summer), where you have a magnificent view over the mountain ranges of the district.

The way back is the same way.
