Käferweg from Murau towards Stolzalpe

This leisurely walk runs straight from Murau towards Stolzalpe, following the Käferweg trail to the Käferhube guest house. A beautiful view of Murau opens out halfway.

With a name like Käferweg ("bug way"), you might be forgiven for thinking that you will encounter all sorts of creepy crawlies on the trail towards Stolzalpe. However, the name actually derives from the destination, the Käferhube (a guest house). In actual fact, this easy but uphill walk is the perfect excuse to linger in the forest on a hot day. You know you are on the right track when you cross the roads named "Stolzalpensiedlung" and "Sonnweg"  at the foot of the Stolzalpe, situated on the sunny side of Murau, before heading uphill through the forest. Approximately halfway to the Käferhube, a glade opens up in the forest, offering a delightful view of Murau from the northern slope. Once at the Käferhube, there is time for a rest on the gorgeous terrace boasting a panoramic view over the valley, while the children tumble about on the playground.
