An enjoyable high-altitude hike starting from Schöttlgraben in Oberwölz!

The trail leads through the high forest to the tree line and on to the Hühnerkogel mountain, ending at the rocky area. The summit offers a magnificent panoramic view of Oberwölz!

More information

Coming from Judenburg via Unzmarkt to Scheifling. Here turn right in the direction of Murau. In Niederwölz keep right again and drive to Oberwölz. In Oberwölz continue to the Schöttel chapel.

Coming from Tamsweg drive via Ranten (or Stadl an der Mur) to Murau. Continue to Niederwölz - here keep left and drive to Oberwölz. In Oberwölz continue to the Schöttep chapel.

Parking is available behind the Schöttel Chapel.

From the parking lot Schöttlkapelle, keep right. Cross the stream here and follow trail no. 12 straight up the south-facing ridge to a cross, from here it is only 30 inutes to the summit. On the ridge towards SW easy passage to Kilnbreim (20 minutes) or hike to Kilnbrein from Halserhütte.

The way back is the same way.
