The family-friendly circular hike is suitable for young and old, scores with fantastic impressions of nature and is ideal for a relaxing walk in unspoiled nature.

The Etrachsee is an idyllic high mountain lake at 1,374 m in the Styrian Krakau and measures around 10.5 ha. Surrounded by larch forests and lush alpine meadows, it offers pure relaxation close to nature.
You start at the "Forellenstation Etrachsee" and then take a leisurely walk around the lake. A small wooden bridge follows in the middle of the forest, which is fascinated by
small, hand-erected cairns. On hot summer days, the lake invites you to take a refreshing dip after this short hike.

More information

East: From Vienna on the A 2 and S 6 to Leoben and St. Michael i. d. O., continue on the S 36 to Judenburg and on the B 96 to Murau. From Murau via Ranten to Krakow.

West, north: From Bregenz/Innsbruck via the A 12, A 93 and A 8 to Salzburg. From Salzburg on the A 10 to St. Michael im Lungau. From here, take the B 96 to Tamsweg and continue towards Murau via Sauerfeld to Krakau.

South: From Klagenfurt on the B 83 to Scheifling. Then on the B 96 to Murau and on to Krakau.

Public parking spaces are available directly at the Etrachsee trout station.

This leisurely tour starts directly at the Etrachsee trout station. Walk along the right-hand side of the lake along the gravel path. Shortly before the Spreitzerhütte hut, turn left. Walk through the forest and over a small bridge to the other side of Lake Etrachsee. Always alongside the water, the Haswaldhütte appears after the forest section. From here it is only a few minutes' walk back to the starting point.
