Murau railroad station is located on the outskirts of Murau and is a somewhat larger station used for getting on and off the train.

This is home to the famous "Murtalbahn". A narrow-gauge railroad that makes daily journeys from Unzmarkt to Tamsweg. The Murtalbahn runs through the station every two hours a day, ensuring smooth passenger transportation in Murau.

In the summer months, the popular nostalgia trips with the steam locomotive of the Murtalbahn take place on the respective dates. On a route of 64 km (narrow gauge: gauge 760 mm) directly along the Mur, you can enjoy a steam train experience like no other!
