The Murau public library has been open continuously since 1948. Since February 2024, the library has had new premises on Schillerplatz. Over 7,000 items have thus found a new home and are open to the public three days a week.

The Murau public library has over 200 different Tonie audio figures, as well as a wide variety of books for toddlers, kindergarten children and primary school pupils. All children, whether locals or vacationers, can borrow all media free of charge for three weeks.
