Dorfmuseum "Waltlhaus" Krakaudorf
Krakau
The village museum in Krakaudorf brings you closer to the culture of the valley. This is a former smokehouse whose roots likely go back to the 12th century. Here, what remains from the past has been gathered. No exquisite treasures and valuable antiques, but furniture, tools, vehicles, everyday items, and utensils of daily life.
In several showrooms, it is demonstrated how people in Krakow once lived. From the anteroom, the Lab'n, you enter the house. The central room is the smoke room with its brick cooking area and dining place. An old loom is also present here. Additionally, there is an old maid's and servant's chamber with its furnishings, as well as a shoemaker's workshop from the time when craftsmen still went out to work. A guest room from the early 20th century is found on the upper floor, showcasing the simple accommodation of the first summer visitors. Numerous devices, such as butter tubs, sieves, oven bowls, sewing machines, and milk cans, as well as the tools of woodcutters and carpenters displayed in glass cases, illustrate the formerly harsh working world. In the old barn, there is a collection of carriages and sleds, plows, hay wagons, and other long-outdated working tools.
