According to tradition, the founder of the Stift St. Lambrecht, Markgraf Markward von Eppenstein, passed away on June 16, 1076. Traditionally, anniversaries have been set from that year onward. Therefore, 2026 marks the 950th anniversary, which will begin with the year-end mass on December 31, 2025. Larger and smaller events will take place throughout the anniversary year 2026, providing an opportunity not only to reflect on a rich history but also to raise awareness of the present life and work of the monastery and to venture outlooks into the future.
