As part of the Murau Organ Week, there will be a festive church service on Sunday, August 9, 2026, at the Parish Church of St. Matthew in Murau, featuring selected organ literature and improvisation on the Greß organ by Walter Hannes Ofner.

Walter Hannes Ofner, born 1978 in Leoben, has been dealing with music since early childhood. He completed his studies in 2012 at the Landeskonservatorium Klagenfurt, majoring in organ under Prof. Klaus Kuchling and specializing in music theory under Prof. Thomas Modrej, graduating with honors. The Murau Organ Week 2026
This year, the Murau Organ Week once again welcomes you with a diverse program. Ranging from the Middle Ages to the present, from the portative organ to the modern organ. You can look forward to an organ tour with an introduction to the week, an organ mass, four concerts, and the opportunity to visit the oldest organ in Murau, all offers that will provide you with exclusive insights into the fascinating organ landscape of the city and the district of Murau. At three concerts this year, singing will also complement and enrich the organ sound, and in the closing concert of the week, the trumpet will join the organ in a chamber music concert as a partner.

Manfred Novak, artistic director of the Murau Organ Week, is pleased to welcome you to fascinating sound experiences in the special atmosphere of historic venues!
All events are free of charge. Participants are asked for a reasonable donation to cover any outstanding costs of the series.
