Swoosh down the slopes
Across the Murau Region’s large and small ski areas, a winter holiday becomes an experience to remember. With seven ski mountains, more than 40 lifts and over 150 kilometres of slopes, Murau offers ideal conditions for winter sports enthusiasts of all levels, from beginners to World Cup champions.
Turracher Höhe
Turracher Höhe is situated around Lake Turrach, on the border between Styria and Carinthia.
The ski area offers 43 kilometres of slopes and 15 cable cars and lifts.
Alongside family-friendly slopes and more challenging runs, visitors can enjoy a snow park, Funslope, Funcross and Kidsslope. One of the ski area’s special features is the Pistenbutler, who can be found in selected areas, providing guests with useful information and small treats throughout the day.
Dates for night-time skiing and other evening activities will be announced separately for each winter season.

Kreischberg
Wide slopes and plenty to enjoy for families and freestylers
Kreischberg offers 42 kilometres of slopes and 13 cable cars and lifts. Wide runs and a range of difficulty levels provide ideal conditions for families, beginners and experienced skiers and snowboarders.
The snow park offers a variety of features for freeskiers and snowboarders to enjoy. Children and beginners have their own practice areas, as well as a beginner lift and a magic carpet.

Lachtal
Skiing amid high-altitude mountain scenery
Lachtal is one of Styria’s higher-altitude ski areas. Wide-open slopes, panoramic views and runs of varying difficulty offer plenty of choice for families and experienced skiers alike.
A dedicated children’s area provides a gentle introduction to winter sports for younger guests. More experienced skiers can enjoy red and black runs as well as expansive slopes above the tree line.
GrebenzenHöhen
Family-friendly skiing in St. Lambrecht
GrebenzenHöhen is located in St. Lambrecht, in the Zirbitzkogel-Grebenzen Nature Park. The ski area offers 27 kilometres of family-friendly slopes, with five blue, eight red and one black run.
A dedicated children’s area with a magic carpet, rope tow and children’s carousel, as well as a separate practice slope, helps children and beginners get started on the snow. The 10-seater Panoramagondelbahn gondola takes skiers and snowboarders comfortably up to the mountain station.
Away from the slopes, a natural toboggan run of around 4.5 kilometres adds another option for a winter day in the mountains. Ski touring and a range of other winter activities are also available around Grebenzen.
Tonnerhüttenlift
A relaxed, nature-focused winter sports area for families and leisure seekers on the Zirbitzkogel
Around the Tonnerhütte, the focus is on a quieter winter experience. Alongside the small ski lift, the area is particularly known for BERGaufRODELN. Guests are pulled uphill on their toboggans by a drag lift before making their way back down into the valley on specially designed toboggan runs.
Opening times and lift operations depend on snow conditions.
Tockneralm lifts
Family-friendly skiing in the Steirische Krakau
The Tockneralmlifte in Krakau is a small, easy-to-navigate ski area for families, beginners and more experienced winter sports enthusiasts. Short distances, a local ski school and on-site ski hire make it easy to get started.
The Krakau FIS Days regularly bring international slalom competitions to the ski area.

Schöderer family ski lift
Perfect for beginners
The Schöder family ski lift is particularly well suited to children and beginners. The small drag lift and easy-to-navigate slope provide ideal conditions for gaining confidence and making those first turns on skis.
Operating days are set for each winter season and depend on snow conditions.
Ski schools and ski rental on site
Stunning ski runs as far as the eye can see: The Murau region boasts skiing fun galore. If you’re a first-timer, the local ski schools offer skiing lessons for children and adults as well as snowboard, freestyle and private lessons. Many of the ski schools even carry the quality seal of Styrian ski schools.
If you don’t own a set of winter sports equipment or would like to test a new product, simply rent a pair of skis or a snowboard from the local rental shops.

Ski pass prices vary depending on the ski area, time of season, age and duration of validity. Some ski areas offer joint ski passes, such as Kreischberg & Lachtal, while regional multi-area ski passes are also available. Ski schools, ski hire and equipment servicing are available in the larger ski areas as well as at several of the smaller ski lifts. Ski and snowboard lessons are available for both children and adults, and a wide range of equipment can be hired. During peak holiday periods, booking in advance is recommended.
