A magical realm underground!

The electrically lit stalactite cave with a developed visitor path is rich in stalactites and stalagmites as well as sinter curtains, pearl sinter, and nodule and button sinter.

The tour is conducted by a trained cave guide.

Bookable additional Services

Guided tours take place until September 13, 2026, on Sundays and public holidays from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. on the hour.

No advance reservations are required for these tours.
Groups of 10 or more can also book tours outside of these times.

It is slippery in the cave and on the way up - please wear sturdy footwear.

Since we maintain a permanent temperature of 8.5°C, we also recommend bringing warm clothing in the summer. 

Getting there:
By car... The cave is located about 4 km outside of Kapfenberg on the B 20 towards Mariazell (near the farm "Mariazellerstraße 135" in 8605 Kapfenberg). You leave the federal road at the PEWAG factory and park your vehicle there. The cave entrance can then be reached on foot in about 20 minutes.

By public transport... Since June 2024, our cave also has its own bus stop called "Rettenwandhöhle," which is served by regional bus lines between Kapfenberg, Aflenz, Turnau & Mariazell.
