Pöllauberg-Round via Masenberg and Schloffereck, Pöllauberg

• Starting from the Pöllauberg pilgrimage church, then past the Annakirche church across the main square, we walk north towards the entrance to the village until we reach the crossroads at the chapel.
• There we keep slightly to the right and walk approx. 200 m to the next crossroads with the signpost "Hartberg" and continue straight uphill.
• We stay on the L 431, the Pöllaubergstraße, for approx. 200 m and follow the signpost and the red-white-red markings no. 942 until we reach the Masenberg with summit cross, Glückskapelle chapel and Schutzwirt inn.

Masenberg - Zisser-Taverne - Schloffereck   

• From the Masenberg (1261m), the path leads us past the summit cross in a westerly direction, descending steeply to the Lüßwaldsattel. We are on the forest nature trail and the red-white-red hiking trail no. 913 towards Kreuzwirt.
• From the Zisser tavern (former inn), we hike in a northerly direction following the red-white-red trail no. 913 until we meet the white-green-white marked hiking trail no. 10 towards Schloffereck at a game reserve and follow it.

Schloffereck - Folklore Museum - Hotel Muhr

• Once we reach the Schloffereck, we see the information board and have a wonderful view of the Pöllau Valley.
• Now we walk back a little way on the path we came along until we come to the white-blue-white signpost no. 11 (Pöllau via Prätis).
• Now we walk downhill until we come to hiking trail 4 (white-yellow-white) and from here we follow it to the Folklore Museum and then to the Hotel Muhr. 

Hotel Muhr - Höhenweg - Pöllauberg    

• Starting from Waldhof Muhr, we walk along the access road in a southerly direction until we come to a field path that leads away from the municipal road to the left into the forest. Following the markings, we reach the "Panoramablick" viewpoint.
• Here we keep left again and reach the municipal road via the high path towards Masenberg. Now we walk downhill towards Pöllau until we reach the crossroads with the white-red-white markings with no. 6 towards Pöllauberg to the farms of the Harb, Maierhofer and Schweighofer families and turn off in their direction.
• Between the Maierhofer family home and stables, the marked hiking trail leads us along nature trails and paths to the Gleichweit family farm, where we continue along the municipal road until shortly before the Grabner family farm.
• Here we take two sharp left turns in quick succession and follow the white-red-white markings no. 6 through forests and past fields and meadows to the Pöllauberg - Masenberg country road. We keep to the right and immediately come to the crossroads via which we reach the pilgrimage site.

A few tips on correct and fair behaviour in the forest: (Source: www.bundesforste.at)

• Hikers should avoid visiting the forest approx. 1.5 hours before sunrise and after sunset, as wild animals are particularly active at this time.
• Plastic bottles, handkerchiefs, cigarette butts etc. have no place in the forest! Please make sure that you do not leave any rubbish in the forest.
• Camping and making fires is strictly forbidden in the forest!
• In principle, every person in the forest is allowed to collect 2kg of mushrooms and berries per day for their own use. It is only prohibited if the forest owner expressly forbids it.

• Small backpack with water bottle (+ provisions)
• Sturdy shoes
• Appropriate clothing - preferably several layers - "onion principle"
• Rain and sun protection
• Hiking poles as required

• Before starting the hike, check where you can stop for refreshments, including opening times, or pack suitable provisions.
