The hiking trail leads you from Strallegg to a magnificent vantage point in Joglland, to the Wildwiese. The way home then leads past the so-called "dead man".

The tour to the Wildwiese starts in the sunny village of Strallegg, which is also a member of the Styrian Flower Route. In 1984 Strallegg was elected "Most beautiful flower village of Styria", since then also several times the most beautiful mountain village of Styria. From there you hike to the Wildwiese at an altitude of about 1254 meters. An ascent of the 36-meter-high Wildwiesenwarte is mandatory if you want to enjoy the magnificent view of Joglland and eastern Styria. On nice days, the view even reaches as far as Hungary. Afterwards it goes over the "dead man" back to Strallegg.

On the Wildwiese there is also a great opportunity for refreshment with traditional culinary delicacies with the Wildwiesenhütte. A playground and a small chapel also invite you to linger.

Strallegg is located in the East Styrian mountains. The municipal area rises from around 600 meters in the southwest to over 1000 meters.
By car:
From Graz: via the A2 (towards Vienna) to the Gleisdorf-West exit, follow the B54 to Weiz, then continue on the B72 towards Ratten, Strallegg
From Vienna: Take the A2 (toward Graz) to the Seebenstein interchange, then take the S6 (toward St. Michael) to the Krieglach exit, then continue on the B72 over the Alpl (toward Birkfeld, Strallegg)

We start at the information board between the town hall and the parish church and walk downhill past the church.

Immediately after the beautiful wayside shrine, we turn left onto Miesenbacherstraße and walk past the school out of town
At the small roundabout, we continue straight ahead and follow the road for about 2 km.
We stay on the paved road the entire time; at the next intersection, we also continue straight ahead.
At the small red meadow chapel (Lechner Cross), we turn left onto “Remmelhoferweg.”
At the “Moosbacher” farmstead, we turn right uphill, leaving the paved road behind.
Immediately after the gate, we keep to the left and head up toward the forest.
We reach the farm road, turn right briefly, then turn left again onto the forest path.
At the next intersection, we continue left and soon reach the access road to the Wildwiesenhütte.
We continue left on the access road and soon turn left again onto the forest path, which ends right at the Wildwiese.
After a break, we continue past the chapel; the trail is marked “Toter Mann.” We continue along Trail No. 6.
At the intersection with the farm road, we turn right and continue along the farm road.
Soon we turn left onto the forest trail.
At the next intersection, we continue down the path to the left.
When we reach the farm road, we turn right and continue along it (marked “Toter Mann”).

At the next intersection, we continue down the path to the left.
When we reach the farm road, we turn right and continue (marker: “Toter Mann”).
We go around the gate and keep to the left, passing the wayside cross.
At the next major intersection, we’ve now reached the yellow “Toter Mann” chapel.
We continue to the left and are now back on a paved road.
At the next intersection, we keep to the right and head toward “Fam. Haubenwaller, vlg. Schneeberger.”
We walk along this paved road to the Schneeberger family farmstead (known as Krauser), turn left downhill there, and continue through the farmyard. We are now back on a farm road.
At the next farmstead, we turn right and walk back to Strallegg on the paved road. Passing the cemetery, we reach the town center again.

A few tips on correct and fair behaviour in the forest: (Source: www.bundesforste.at )

Hikers should avoid visits to the forest about 1.5 hours before sunrise and after sunset, as wild animals are particularly active during this time.
Plastic bottles, handkerchiefs, cigarette butts etc. have no place in the forest! Please make sure that you do not leave any rubbish in the forest.
Camping and lighting fires are strictly forbidden in the forest!
In principle, every person is allowed to pick 2 kg of mushrooms and berries per day for personal use. It is only prohibited if the forest owner expressly forbids it.

Route description
Before starting the hike, check the possibilities for refreshments, including opening times, or pack appropriate food and drink.

Once you have arrived at the Wildwiese, you can also hike comfortably from there to Wenigzell or to Miesenbach.
