St. Barbara im Mürztal consists of the districts Mitterdorf, Veitsch and Wartberg. Pilgrims cross the area to get to Mariazell, hikers appreciate the massif of the Hohe Veitsch. In winter, the Brunnalm skiing area attracts skiers and ski tourers.

What guests can look forward to

The area between Stanglalpe and Hoher Veitsch offers a wide variety of possibilities for hikers and nature lovers, both in summer and in winter. The skiing and hiking area Brunnalm-Hohe Veitsch, located directly on the hiking route "Vom Gletscher zum Wein" and the BergZeitReise, is known for its skiing, ski touring and hiking opportunities. The Veitsch youth and family guesthouse houses an indoor swimming pool open to the public, the district of Mitterdorf an outdoor swimming pool. The Mitterdorf Climbing Academy, which also offers indoor golf, is not only popular with the climbing scene.

Pilgrims on their way to Mariazell pass through St. Barbara, accompanied by works of art on the theme of pilgrimage. The pilgrim's cross, the pilgrim's mile or the pilgrim's chair in the Pichl castle park are ideal for a visit. Other tips are the Lichtenegg castle ruins with its local history museum in the Wartberg district and the animal adventure world at Trachten Wernbacher in the Mitterdorf district (here you can also visit a schnapps distillery).
