St. Barbara im Mürztal

The Lichtenegg castle is the landmark of the community of St. Barbara in the Mürz Valley / Wartberg and is open in the summer months.

The history of the Lichtenegg castle goes back to 1280 and invites you to take a journey into the past. Directly behind the train station in St. Barbara / Wartberg is the stairway to the ruin, where you can reach the castle complex after a 30-minute hike. Another route variant leads over an easily accessible forest road in the Scheibgraben. Highlights of the ruin are the observation tower with a wonderful view over the Mürz Valley and the castle's own tavern.
