Apotheke und Drogerie "Zur Gnadenmutter"

The pharmacy and drugstore "Zur Gnadenmutter" was founded in 1718 and can boast a centuries-old tradition in the production of proprietary products based on European medicinal plants.

Its oldest product, the Mariazell herbal drops, have been manufactured since 1780 in the in-house laboratory still today according to the original recipe.

Today, the company offers more than 100 unique health products for body, mind, and soul, which are now popular far beyond borders. Mag. pharm. Bernhard Widlhofer complements modern medicine with treasures from over 300 years of experience of the pharmacy and millennia-old knowledge of Traditional European Medicine.

A special experience is to visit this traditional pharmacy, to view the 150-year-old furnishings made of Swiss stone pine or old equipment, and to participate in one of the interesting guided tours.

Guided Tours:

1. Tour: During a guided tour in our pharmacy, you will learn interesting information about the effects and uses of medicinal herbs, the preparation of traditional remedies, and everything regarding health from herbal medicine and Traditional European Medicine. Following the tour, there is an opportunity to taste our popular herbal liqueurs.

2. Children's Experience Tour: In the children's tour, children aged 5 and above can take a look behind the scenes of a pharmacy, learn interesting facts about working in a pharmacy, visit the laboratory, and also mix their own tea and prepare an ointment.

Guided tours for groups of 10 or more, costs: € 5,- per person including tasting, € 7,- per child for the children's tour
