From the Mödlingerhütte, the trail climbs briskly along the ridge path towards Spielkogel, Anhartskogel and Niederberg before descending through old alpine pastures and pristine mountain forest to the mountaineering village of Johnsbach. A stage full of sweeping views, alpine magic and authentic Gesäuse atmosphere.

We are, of course, aware that the most convenient and fastest means of transport is still your own car. However, we kindly ask you to first consider the possibility of travelling by public transport and sustainable mobility and to leave your car at home as often as possible.

From the Mödlingerhütte, we take trail no. 673 towards the south-east and soon reach the summit cross of the Spielkogel at 1,731 m. Continuing along the ridge, sometimes downhill and then uphill again, we first reach the Anhartskogel (1,764 m) and later the Niederberg. Now we have to look out for the signpost "Johnsbach, trail no. 675" on the left-hand side. A path leads us down to the former Wölgeralm. Caution: don't lose the trail in the meadow!

After the alpine pasture, we stay to the left (west) of the stream in the Sebringgraben on the path, which can sometimes be a little slippery after rainfall. We cross the Wolfsbacher Niederalm, pass directly by the alpine hut and continue on the left side of the stream along a path through a pristine hillside forest. The path finally leads us to a forest road, on which we reach the mountaineering village of Johnsbach (famous mountaineers' cemetery) near the Ödsteinblick inn.
