This very selective route is a great challenge in the forest passages and is rewarded with a beautiful panoramic view over the city of Leoben to the Mürztal valley after reaching the timberline.

Coming from Graz on the A9 exit St. Michael ob Leoben and on the S 35 to Leoben > direction Zentrum/Asia SpaComing from Vienna on the S 6 to Bruck an der Mur and Leoben > direction Zentrum/Asia Spa

We start at the Asia Spa in Leoben. Here, in addition to the parking lot, there is also the possibility on return to recover in the sauna after the tour. For e-bike riders there is an e-bike filling station available.

We follow the R2 from the Asia Spa to Niklasdorf, while the R2 turns left in front of the Billa market, we stay on the main road for a few hundred meters and leave it at the "Eine Welt Laden" on the left and cross the railroad bridge. Then we continue to the right until we reach the "Gasthaus Eckkaffee", there we turn left into the ditch leading uphill. After about 1 km the asphalt road turns into a gravel road and we reach the Winter-Mugel parking lot. From there we go steeply uphill to the right to the second parking lot, which we can only reach by car in summer. Now we pass a barrier ( be careful on the descent !! ), continue very directly and steeply uphill until we come out after a short right loop on the Mugelwiese. Continue over the Ochsenstall (good snack station), always following the forest road to the Mugelsender (1,400m ). Here you can enjoy the view of the Mur valley to the fullest. From here it goes, barely rideable, over a very steep and loose gravel path in the direction of Mugelschutzhaus. All those who have made it this far must now also descend at the barrier in the forest, and push the remaining meters to the shelter.

Coming by car in the direction of the train station, from the train station over the bridge over the river Mur to the traffic circle (the Asia Hote & Spa Leoben is already signposted here) - take the third exit, follow the road and park in front of the Asia Hotel & Spa Leoben. There is also an e-bike filling station here and you can relax in the wellness area of the Asia Spa after the tour.
