Bible trail/mountaineerer cemetery Johnsbach
OpenStarting point for this short meditation path is the mountaineers' cemetery Johnsbach. The path leads through idyllic mixed forest, slightly ascending, past the wayside shrines of the painter Helmut Witte, which depict various parables from the Bible. The end point is a small platform with wonderful views down into the 5 km long Johnsbach valley in front.
The painter Helmut Witte from Neuss in Germany has been a regular guest in Johnsbach for decades. Since his paintings often have parables from the Bible as their theme, it was a natural invitation for him to create this meditative biblical path here.

More information
B 146 Gesaeuse main road from Admont or Hieflau to the Johnsbach junction, then 5 km main road to the Johnsbach mountaineers' cemetery
From the parking lot at GH Donner we walk a short distance to the historic mountaineers' cemetery and the baroque mountain church Johnsbach. A walk between the historical gravestones, which tell the tragic story of many young mountaineers, and a visit to the baroque church put us in the mood for the bible trail. In the church there are small brochures on the Bible Trail, which you can buy for a small fee. Along the cemetery wall the path begins and so we walk uphill from the "lost sheep" via the "Good Samaritan" to the "heavenly Jerusalem". There a magnificent view into the Johnsbach valley to the Buchstein massif awaits us. Next to the benches a stone Madonna is enthroned, who lost her head some time ago due to a rockfall. When we are on the road in spring, we can also enjoy the fragrant blossoms of the Peterg stem - only with our eyes, of course.
