The family-friendly trail runs for almost 10 kilometres through the historic cultural and natural landscape of the Pöllau Valley Nature Park. Climate Future Trail (by KLAR! Naturpark Pöllauer Tal)

It is also possible to explore the trail in two stages (separate northern and southern sections). The start and finish is the Pöllau Castle Park (west of the Parkcafe), in the immediate vicinity of the centre of Pöllau, where there are also culinary stops for a break. The nature park landscape is probably one of the most diverse and beautiful spots in Styria.

Pöllau, castle park

By car from Vienna

If you are driving from Vienna to Pöllau near Hartberg, take the A2 towards Graz and drive about 110 kilometers until you reach the Hartberg exit. From there, follow the B54 in the direction of Pöllau.

By car from Graz

To get from Graz to Pöllau bei Hartberg, take the A2 in the direction of Vienna. After about 30 kilometers, take the Gleisdorf West exit and then take the B54 towards Hartberg/Pöllau. Follow the B54 for about 25 kilometers until you reach Pöllau.

By car from Salzburg

To get to Pöllau bei Hartberg from Salzburg, take the A1 towards Vienna. Drive about 110 kilometers to exit 109 (Salzburg junction). There change to the A9 towards Graz. At St. Michael, follow the S6 towards Kapfenberg. Continue on the S6 until the Krieglach exit. From there, take the B72 and then the L405 to Pöllau.

P&R at the Pöllau bypass

We start at the "Shady tree" information board in the castle park (west of the park café). We leave the Schlosspark via the northern entrance and follow the signpost "Klimazukunft-Weg". We follow the road for a while until we turn right towards Hinterbrühl.
At the "Humus in the soil" information point, we learn interesting facts about our soils. The path now leads us to the Hotel Restaurant Gruber. A loop around the popular bathing pond and we come to the forest path along the Saifenbach stream.
The next information point "Wilderness and deadwood" is located at a forest area that has been taken out of use. We now return to the centre of Pöllau along the barrier-free path. The path continues through the beautiful Aupark to the next information point.
"Rainwater utilisation" is not only explained here, but an illustrative object has also been created. The route continues through the mountain forest to Wieden. We soon find ourselves in the Haidenwald forest.At the
"Schau- und Versuchsfläche" and "Wald mit Klimazukunft" information points near the Haidenwald tower, we learn how important a climate-friendly forest is. From here, the trail leads through forest, meadows and orchards back to the centre of Pöllau and our starting point in the castle park.

Hikers should avoid visiting the forest approx. 1.5 hours before sunrise and after sunset, as wild animals are particularly active at this time.
Plastic bottles, handkerchiefs, cigarette butts etc. have no place in the forest! Please make sure that you do not leave any rubbish in the forest.
Camping and making fires is strictly forbidden in the forest!
In principle, every person in the forest is allowed to collect 2kg of mushrooms and berries per day for their own use. It is only prohibited if the forest owner expressly forbids it.

Route description
Before starting the hike, check where you can stop for refreshments, including opening times, or pack suitable provisions.

Visit Styria's first themed trail on climate change adaptation, which was the Styrian state winner of the Neptun Water Prize.
