Stoakogler - Heimatweg in Gasen

Open

Family hiking trail around the picturesque village of Gasen with several experience stations and many display boards - especially for fans of the music group "Die Stoagkogler"!

This is of course the perfect hiking trail for all fans of the "Stoakogler", who come from Gasen and still farm here today. With its adventure stations, the trail is also ideal for families. There is a "Kneipp facility" in the torrent, an observation tower that can be climbed, or the largest intact water wheel in Austria at the Schreinhofer mill. The adventure trail leads past the picturesque farmsteads of the Stoakogler brothers and, as an educational trail, describes in detail agriculture, alpine farming and forestry, as well as hunting and game. In the centre of the village you can visit the exhibition about the life of the "Stoanis" in the Stoani House of Music, which is well worth seeing, and there are several innkeepers for refreshments.

  • The entrance to the hiking trail is well marked in the center of the village, between Raiffeisenbank and the municipal office.
  • The first steep ascent leads us up to a small lookout point with a view of the village and on to the Haberl farm.
  • The path now leads across meadows, forests and alpine pastures, watch out when crossing the forest road continues straight ahead.
  • Soon we have reached the "Kneippstation" at the torrent in the Turtentalgraben.
  • The path now leads us down to the farmstead "Pest-Steffl" and along the asphalted road further to the Eisenkögelhütte (not managed!).
  • There we turn right uphill and then walk through the forest to the lookout point above the homestead "Petschenhofer" and further to the lookout tower.
  • At first still a little uphill, the path soon leads downhill through the high forest.
  • At the display board with the "raven birds" we can make a detour to the Schreinhofer mill ("Mühlen-Panoramaweg").
  • The "Stoani" trail leads in the direction of Gasen, past the parish church and ends at the "Stoanihaus" in the village center.

In the Stoani House of Music there is not only an extensive souvenir store, but also a music school and a cozy coffee house with a guest garden.

Buses run regularly between Birkfeld and Gasen.
