Take a leisurely stroll through nature and let your mind wander. Discover the power of water - take time to enjoy a wonderful landscape!

On this circular route, we also walk along the educational wine trail, where we learn a lot about viticulture in the region from the information boards. Another highlight in the truest sense of the word is the viewpoint on the Geierwand. From here we have a fantastic view of the beautiful landscape of ApfelLand.

ApfelLand is located in the heart of Eastern Styria, approx. 60 km north-east of Graz and approx. 140 km south of Vienna

Coming from Vienna:Take the south motorway (A2) to the Hartberg exit - via the main road (B54) towards Graz - 2 km after Kaindorf towards Graz, turn off towards ApfelLand-Stubenbergsee- Stubenbergsee- St.Johann bei Herberstein
Coming from Salzburg/Germany:
Motorway via Salzburg - Pyhrnautobahn (A9) to Graz - continue via the Südautobahn in the direction of Vienna (A2) to the Gleisdorf West exit - main road (B54) to Kaibing - ApfelLand-Stubenbergsee- Stubenbergsee- St.Johann bei Herberstein

St. Johann bei Herberstein municipal office

We start the circular hike in St. Johann bei Herberstein at the municipal office. There is also a public car park here.
Before we start our hike, we have the opportunity to refresh ourselves at the Kneipp village square. St. Johann bei Herberstein is a member of the Kneipp Active Park Mittleres Feistritztal
Strengthened and refreshed, we now set off towards the public playground and sports field in Hoferberg, orientating ourselves on trail marker no. 3 (red-white-red)
Along the educational wine trail - (information boards tell interesting facts about the cultural history of viticulture), on to the Geierwand.
Passing the Wolfskirche (a rock formation that gave rise to this name), we reach the district of Bergl, the Hoferberg wine-growing area and via Oberklausen we return to the Feistritztal valley and the starting point in St. Johann bei Herberstein.

A few tips on correct and fair behaviour in the forest

Hikers should avoid visiting the forest approx. 1.5 hours before sunrise and after sunset, as wild animals are particularly active during this time.
Plastic bottles, handkerchiefs, cigarette butts etc. have no place in the forest! Please make sure that you do not leave any rubbish in the forest.
Camping and making fires is strictly forbidden in the forest!
In principle, every person in the forest is allowed to collect 2kg of mushrooms and berries per day for their own use. It is only prohibited if the forest owner expressly forbids it.
