The Pöllau Valley Nature Park is located in the heart of Eastern Styria, the garden of Austria, approx. 60 km north-east of Graz and approx. 150 km south of Vienna
By car from ViennaIf you are driving from Vienna to Pöllau bei Hartberg, take the A2 towards Graz and drive about 110 kilometres until you reach the Hartberg exit. From there, follow the B54 in the direction of Pöllau.
By car from GrazTo get to Pöllau bei Hartberg from Graz, take the A2 motorway in the direction of Vienna. After about 30 kilometres, take the Gleisdorf West exit and then take the B54 towards Hartberg/Pöllau. Follow the B54 for about 25 kilometres until you reach Pöllau.
By car from SalzburgTo get to Pöllau bei Hartberg from Salzburg, take the A1 motorway towards Vienna. Drive about 110 kilometres to exit 109 (Salzburg junction). There change to the A9 motorway in the direction of Graz. At St. Michael, follow the S6 towards Kapfenberg. Continue on the S6 until the Krieglach exit. From there, take the B72 and then the L405 to Pöllau.
Pöllauberg, Hotel RETTER
- We ride to the main square in Pöllau, then on to the post office, past the cemetery and immediately afterwards turn left towards Hinteregg.
- We pass the Schweighofer sawmill on a slight incline and stay on the main path. The path winds its way up 700 meters in altitude.
- At the top, we enjoy the view of the Pöllau Valley.
- Now we turn right towards Stubenberg am See. Ride downhill to Gasthof Lex, turn left and follow the road to the village center.
- Turn left at the parish church, right before Stubenberg Castle and ride downhill to the main road. Turn left to the lido.
- After a lap around the Stubenbergsee lake, we can take a cool dip before continuing towards Schielleiten.
- We take the exit at the Jufa-Gästhaus Stubenberg and ride parallel to the main road on a leisurely side path to the Herberstein zoo.
- Before the Herberstein zoo, turn left to Buschenschank Herberstein and continue along Stockreithweg behind the Schielleiten pond to Vockenberg.
- We cross the road and pedal along the vineyards in Tiefenbach past Hofkirchen and ride downhill through a wooded area to the Romanesque church of St. Stefan. At the church we turn left towards Pöllau, along the road through Schönau, past the Retter travel agency.
- In the Kirchenackersiedlung, turn right again to the RETTER Bio-Natur-Resort.

- Don't forget all your equipment (repair kit, first aid kit, etc.)!
- Only ride on marked paths!
- Observe the road traffic regulations!
- Observe driving bans and keep to opening times!
- Control your speed!
- Leave no tracks!
- Respect other nature users!
- Show consideration for animals (only ride in daylight & close pasture fences)!
- Avoid noise and garbage!
- Use the cycle paths at your own risk!
- Beware of working machines, wood or potholes on the road, grazing livestock and vehicle traffic (forest roads are working areas and workplaces)!

Cyclists should avoid visiting the forest approx. 1.5 hoursbefore sunrise and after sunset, as wild animals areparticularly active at this time.Plastic bottles, handkerchiefs, cigarette butts etc. have noplace in the forest! Please make sure that you do not leave anygarbage in the forest.Camping and making fires is strictly forbidden in the forest!
