This mountain bike tour takes us from Krieglach over the Feistritzberg to the Malleisten Alm. The route not only runs along the Feistritzbach stream, but also along the municipal border of Krieglach and Langenwang.

This mountain bike tour takes us from Krieglach along the Mürztal cycle path R5 to Feistritz Castle and on to the Feistritzberg and the Malleisten Alm. After a rest at the alpine hut, we cycle back to Krieglach via Malleisten.

Coming from Vienna, leave the S6 - Semmering motorway at Krieglach Ost. At the roundabout, take the exit to Krieglach and follow the main road to Krieglach. Turn right at the Alpl junction and you will reach the main square. Follow Pestalozzistraße and turn right after approx. 200 metres - to the Pestalozzi car park.

Coming from Graz, leave the S6 - Semmering motorway at Mitterdorf (St. Barbara im Mürztal). At the roundabout, take the first exit to Krieglach. Follow the main road until you see the signpost to Krieglach on the right. Turn off here and then turn right again at the next junction. At the Alpl crossroads, turn left onto the main square. Follow Pestalozzistraße for approx. 200 metres and then turn right into the Pestalozzi car park.

You will find plenty of parking spaces in the Pestalozzi car park.

We start our tour in the centre of Krieglach and ride over the Mürzbrücke bridge, after which we turn right onto the Mürztal cycle path R5 (Sommerstraße). We follow the R5 - past the crossroads into Massing and onto Malleisten and the summer settlement - and finally turn left in the area of the golf course/ Feistritz Castle. This path leads us steadily uphill to the Feistritzberg.

A few tips for safe mountain biking:

Check your bike air pressure, spoke tension and brake pads after every tour.
A helmet is an essential part of every mountain bike tour.
Think in advance about what equipment you need to take with you: warm clothing, rain and wind protection, a repair kit and first aid kit belong in your rucksack, as well as a charged mobile phone.

The Langenwanger Au, which is on the way, is worth a visit: take a short ‘detour’ into the floodplain, which offers still water areas and alluvial forest as part of a near-natural hydraulic engineering project.
