Walk to the Kalvarienberg in Neuberg an der Mürz within the Mürzer Oberland Nature Park.

From the Stiftshof, right at the entrance to the monastery, pass the Greißlerei (local shop) and continue to Gasthof Holzer. Shortly after, turn right onto a steep, narrow asphalt road, which is followed uphill (signpost for Kalvarienberg). Continue along this small road until its end (where the asphalt ends).

Now, instead of continuing straight, turn left (wooden stairs) and follow a short forest path, eventually crossing some easy rocks (with a railing) to reach the highest point, marked by a distinctive cross with a golden depiction of Jesus.

Descend the same way, and at the intersection with the asphalt road, turn left along the unpaved promenade. Walk briefly until you reach the turnoff (with a bench) for the Schenkfeldpromenade.

Now, turn right downhill towards the monastery and return to the starting point.

A visit to the Neuberg Monastery with its associated glassblowing workshop and natural history museum is highly recommended. For a culinary treat, the Restaurant Holzer (run by the Schäffer family), located directly beneath Kalvarienberg, is definitely worth a visit!
