Comfortable mountain tour with wonderful views from the Hochschwab over the Gesäuse to the Dachstein.

First we hike on a forest road through the "Schwammerlwald", then further over managed alpine pastures to the Kräuterinhütte with refreshment stop. Then through the forest and across high pastures to Hochstadl.

From Mariazell on the B20 to Gußwerk, here turn right in the direction of Wildalpen on the B24 to Greith, at km 11 turn right in the direction of Dürradmer approx. 10 min up to the parking lot Fangbrücke.
Parking lot in the Dürradmer (ATTENTION: access is only allowed to the parking lot Fangbrücke).

We can park directly in Dürradmer, from Dürradmer we follow the markings on the forest road through the forest and reach a barrier.

From the barrier about 1 km on the road until a path on the left leads through the forest and over a stream. It takes about 1 hour to walk to the Kräuterin hut.

After a short rest at the holder Thomas we follow the trail through the forest and arrive at Hochalmen. On the right, always with the Fadenkamp in view, we reach the last ascent and reach the Hochstadl after about 2 hours.

The way back is the same as the ascent.

You should be surefooted.

Emergency reporting tip - provide answers to the six W questions: What happened? How many injured? Where did the accident happen (possibly GPS coordinates)? Who is reporting (callback number)? When did the accident happen? Weather at the accident site?

Proper backpacking makes many things easier: pack heavy things first. The water bottle should always be within easy reach in a side pocket. All things that are often needed, such as sunglasses, camera or hiking map, belong on top. An emergency kit including blister plaster belongs in every backpack and a clothing according to the "onion system" is always recommended!
