Pleasure hike from the Bärenkogelsattel to the Ganzalm. Wonderfully suitable for families. Tours into the heart of the Fischbach Alps with Amundsenhöhe, Pretul and Stuhleck are possible here in both summer and winter.

Car access to Bärenkogel, from there about an hour's walk. From Mürzzuschlag (Gasthof Lendl) approx. three hours walking time (path 742).

S6 Semmering motorway, exit Mürzzuschlag. Continue in the direction of Ganztal as far as the Bärenkogelsattel.

Parking facilities in the Bärenkogelsattel area, parking fee.

We start our ascent to the Ganzalm at the Bärenkogelsattel, where we park our car. Now we follow the ever-so-slightly ascending path to the Ganzalmhaus. Once there, we stop for a bite to eat at the Ganzalmhaus and fortify ourselves for the descent. We then return to the Bärenkogelsattel on the same route we took uphill.

Packing your rucksack properly makes many things easier:

Pack heavy items first. The water bottle should always be within easy reach. All items that are often needed, such as sunglasses, camera, mobile phone or hiking map, should be on top. An emergency kit including blister plasters should be in every rucksack and it is always advisable to dress according to the ‘onion system’!

The Ganzalmhaus can also be reached via a mountain bike route, the wind+bike park Pretul routes.

If you want to hike further and still have some reserves, we recommend the Amundsenhöhe or even the Stuhleck summit.

You can find all bus and train connections to Mürzzuschlag at www.oebb.at or www.verbundlinie.at. Unfortunately, the Ganztal cannot be reached by public transport, so we recommend hiring a taxi:
