The 5er route up the Stuhleck

From the car park of the Stuhleck lifts, where we park the car, a connecting path leads us to the starting point of the hike, the sports facility in Spital am Semmering. The tour takes us over the Hocheck (1488 m) to the Stuhleck (1782 m) and on to the Alois-Günther-Haus. We take the same route back down into the valley.

The Stuhleck is very exposed to the wind and orientation can be problematic in fog!

Tip for reporting an emergency - answer the six W questions: What has happened? How many injured people? Where did the accident happen (possibly GPS coordinates)? Who is reporting (callback number)? When did the accident happen? Weather at the scene of the accident?

Packing your rucksack properly makes many things easier: Pack heavy items first. The water bottle should always be within easy reach in a side pocket. All items that are needed frequently, such as sunglasses, camera or hiking map, should be on top. Emergency equipment including blister plasters should be in every rucksack and it is always advisable to dress according to the ‘onion system’!

Always wear good, ankle-high footwear on all hikes!
