This hike takes those interested in Rosegger along the path that Peter Rosegger and his schoolmates took when they walked with their teacher Michael Patterer to the exam in Krieglach.

We start our hike at Alpl, at the Forest School. The path leads us over the Freßnitz Gorge and the former inn Postmühle to Krieglach, where we reach the Rosegger Park, which provides a documentation of Peter Rosegger's life.

S6 Semmering Schnellstraße, exit Krieglach. Take the exit to Alpl at the roundabout, then turn left onto Alplstraße at the next street. Drive up to Alpl and turn right at the sign 'Waldschule'.

We start our hike at the Forest School at Alpl and choose the path into the Freßnitz Gorge, which follows the Freßnitz Stream to Krieglach. We walk gently downhill through the forest and eventually reach the former inn, Postmühle. Here, we turn right onto Gölkweg. Passing the picturesque Gölk Chapel, we continue along Gölkweg to the Grazer Straße, into the center of Krieglach, with the Rosegger Park. We reach the Rosegger Museum via Grazer Straße and Roseggerstraße.

For Rosegger enthusiasts, a visit to the Forest School and/or the birthplace at Alpl is highly recommended. In Krieglach, visitors can explore the Rosegger Museum.

By train to Krieglach Railway Station. Continue to Alpl by taxi. Timetable information can be found at www.verbundlinie.at or www.oebb.at.
