Enjoy the beautiful surroundings on a circular hike through the magnificent "Schwarzwalstern".

The circular hiking trail is located in the wonderful landscape around the lake Hubertussee. Numerous benches on the lakeshore also invite you to rest.

The Brother Klaus Church, romantically situated on the northern shore of Lake Hubertussee, was the first church in Austria to be dedicated to the Swiss Nicholas of Flüe. In the artfully designed windows of the church, which is often chosen by wedding couples for their wedding ceremony, the life of Brother Klaus is depicted.

By car coming from Mariazell below the Kreuzberg turn right into the Rechengraben to the lake Hubertussee.

Coming from St. Pölten in Freiland turn left towards St. Aegyd, drive through Hohenberg and St. Aegyd, on the pass "Gscheid" turn right towards Ulreichsberg, then follow the sign towards Hubertussee.

At the dam

The starting point is the Bruder Klaus church in the Walstern. From the church, which is located directly at the lake Hubertussee, we walk along the dam wall on the street Walsterstraße downhill to the bridge over the Walsterbach, here we turn right and walk on the forest road through the forest valley of the "Schwarzwalster".

We keep to the right and reach the Fadental. Since there is unfortunately no place to stop here, we walk a short distance on the access road and then turn right onto the forest road into "Schnittlermoos". Here we hike out of the valley along the "small lake" to the lake Hubertussee and come back to our starting point, the Bruder Klaus church. Now we can hike along the "lake Hubertussee feel-good trail" a little further to the "Wuchtlwirtin", which, as the name suggests, is famous for its Wuchtln - so this detour should be worth the effort!!!

If we park the car at the dam, we can start right there and walk downhill to the bridge.

Tip for reporting an emergency - give answers to the six W-questions: What happened? How many injured? Where did the accident happen (possibly GPS coordinates)? Who is reporting (callback number)? When did the accident happen? Weather at the accident site?

Light shoes, sneakers

Proper backpacking makes many things easier: pack heavy things first. The water bottle should always be within easy reach in a side pocket. All things that are often needed, such as sunglasses, camera or hiking map, belong on top. An emergency kit including blister plaster belongs in every backpack and a clothing according to the "onion system" is always recommended!

For all lovers of wayside shrines, crosses, chapels and monuments, the Arthur Krupp Monument Trail from the source of the Walster River to Mariazell is a must.
