Quick descent from the Falkenstein via Klettersteig in the Mürzer Oberland Nature Park
This very steep descent route is not an actual hiking trail but is intended for all via ferrata climbers who wish to return quickly to the valley after completing the Falkenstein via ferrata (Falkenstein Klettersteig).
However, the longer but more comfortable option via the Falkensteinalm is clearly the recommended alternative.
After exiting at the last steel cable of the via ferrata, follow the trail, staying close to the ridge, ascending and descending along the path marked with red-white-red markings until you reach a small, scenic summit. From there, descend briefly and steeply until you reach the forest road.
Turn sharply left (following the markings) and follow the forest road for about 100 meters until you reach the clearly visible rock walls (climbing area, bench).
From here, follow the steep trail, which is partly secured with wooden stairs. The trail is very steep and can be slippery after rainfall, descending in many switchbacks until you reach the road or the bike path.
