This hike takes you to the 'high north' of Krieglach, to the 1,418-meter-high Hocheck. A magnificent panoramic view of the Hohe Veitsch, the Hochschwab massif, and the Mariazeller Bürgeralpe is guaranteed.

Access by car to just before the Malleistenalm (parking available before the livestock fence) and a short walk to the Malleistenalm hut. This is where the actual hike begins, following Trail 484 via Nikolaus Cross to the Hocheck. Return via the same path back to the starting point.

Exit the S6 at Krieglach East, take the first exit at the roundabout towards Freizeitsee. Follow the road to Malleisten. After about 20 minutes, you will reach the starting point of the hike, the Malleistenalm.

Parking available before the livestock fence

By car, drive from Krieglach up to just before the Malleistenalm (parking available before the livestock fence). From there, we walk to the Malleistenalm hut, where the actual hike begins. We follow Trail 484 via Nikolaus Cross at 1,148 meters above sea level, continue over Schwarzkogel to the Hocheckalm, and then to the Hocheck summit. We return along the same path to the Malleistenalm.

Refreshments available at the Malleistenalm hut. Enjoy a delicious alpine snack with a magnificent view of the Mürz Valley mountain range.

The Malleistenalm hut is not accessible by public transport.
