This moderately difficult hike in the area of Veitsch - Niederaigen takes us to the Wartberger Hundskopfhütte. On the return journey, we pass through the legendary Mehlstübl, adding a touch of mystery to the adventure.

S6 Semmering Expressway, exit Mitterdorf. Take the roundabout exit to Veitsch. Follow the road into the Veitscher Tal and turn left at the Zenker Hausbau sign.

We begin our hike at the "Zenker Hausbau" parking lot and follow the first part of the trail along the forest road heading west up the mountain to the Hochreiter farm. Upon reaching the Hochreiterkogel, we continue left to the south towards the Hundskopfhütte. After reaching the Hundskopfhütte, our journey continues – about 200 meters past the hut, we turn left and hike via Mehlstübl to the Joselbauer. From the Gasthof Rantsch, we head back to Dorfveitsch, the starting point of our hike.

Culinary tip: Stop at the Gasthof Rantsch (closed on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday) for a delightful meal!

Take the train to St. Barbara - Mitterdorf station. From there, take the bus into the Veitscher Tal.
