This moderate hike leads through the Alpenbachgraben to the Hofalm, continuing via the Karoluskreuz to the Hocheck Alm.

The descent follows the trail through the Häsellucke and past the Schwarzenegger farm, eventually reaching the Kalch intersection, the starting point of the hike.

More information

Take the S6 Semmering Expressway, exit at Mitterdorf. At the roundabout, take the Veitsch exit and follow the road into the Veitsch Valley until you reach the Dorfveitsch sign.

Turn right here and follow Klein-Veitsch-Straße until you reach Kalch (intersection Kaiblinggraben/Alpenbachgraben).

Parking available in the Kalch area

From Kalch, we turn right into the Alpenbachgraben valley. The road leads us steadily uphill to the Hofalm.

From there, we continue toward the Karoluskreuz and keep right to reach the Hocheck.

For the return route, we follow Trail 481 to the Häsellucke. Here, we leave the marked forest road and turn right onto the path leading to the Schwarzenegger farm.

From Schwarzenegger, we continue along the forest road, passing Kober, and finally return to Kalch.

Don't forget sturdy footwear and rain gear (just in case)!

Take the train to Mitterdorf station, then continue by bus into the Veitsch Valley.
