Via a mountain road (gravel), this popular mountain bike trail leads to the Schießlingalm, which is open for service.

Trail conditions: Asphalt up to the tollgate, then gravel road.

Special features: Lovely alpine pasture which is managed in summer (grazing cattle) - Cozy alpine huts for rent - Wonderful view from the Schießling peak (panorama board).

TIP: On the forest road below the Schießlinggipfel to the nearby Oischingalm (1/2 hour).

From the south: From Kapfenberg on the B20From the north: Via Mariazell and the Seeberg on the B20From the east: Via Semmering on the S6 to Kapfenberg and further on the B20.
Parking lot in front of the municipal office in Dörflach (about 500 m from Draiach).

From the village square in Draiach follow the Schießlingalmstraße to the toll barrier at 1000 m above sea level (toll per car € 7,- / for cyclists and mountain bikers the use is toll-free!). Over the hairpin bends of the mountain road and through the mountain forest to the Schießlingalm (average driving time approx. 1 1/2 hours).

A few tips for safe mountain biking:

Check your bike after every tour air pressure, spoke tension and brake pads.The helmet belongs to every mountain bike tour.Think in advance what equipment you need: warm clothing, rain and wind protection, repair kit and first aid kit belong in the backpack, as well as a charged cell phone.

After the tour, it is worth visiting the Aflenz earth station in Graßnitz. The earth station, which was put into operation in 1980, is one of the most important telecommunications facilities in Austria. A short info film awaits all visitors interested in technology. Opening hours: MO to SO 9-17 o'clock, entrance free!
