From the Mürztal Valley, this bike & hike tour leads through the Veitsch Valley to Hohe Veitsch. Following the traces of centuries-old pilgrimage traditions, the tour combines relaxed cycling with a scenic hike to one of Styria's most spectacular panoramic peaks. The Pilgrims' Cross, the WegART installations and the vast karst landscape of the Veitschalpe make this route a truly memorable experience.

Supported by the Austrian Federal Government, the Province of Styria and the European Union (LEADER).

This bike & hike tour is deeply rooted in the region's centuries-old pilgrimage tradition. As early as Mitterdorf, the Pilgrims' Park and the Pilgrims' Circular Trail highlight the long history of pilgrimages to Mariazell.

Continuing through the Veitsch Valley, the striking Pilgrims' Cross on the Veitscher Ölberg comes into view from afar. It is the world's tallest walk-in wooden cross. Along the route, several WegART installations further bring to life the history of pilgrimage and the cultural significance of the Mariazell Pilgrimage Route.

The pilgrimage tradition becomes even more tangible when the cycling section ends and the hike begins. Every year, numerous pilgrims choose the route across Hohe Veitsch on their way to Mariazell—and for good reason. At 1,981 metres, Hohe Veitsch is regarded as one of Styria's finest panoramic mountains.

Conclusion: A remarkable bike & hike tour combining centuries of pilgrimage tradition, a vast karst landscape and one of Styria's most spectacular viewpoints.
