Open
Nice round trip where we pass 3 lakes: Lake Erlauf, Lake Erlaufstausee and Lake Hubertus
This circular tour runs on federal and state roads.A rest at one of the 3 lakes or a final visit to the Mariazell Basilica is highly recommended.

More information

Via the Westautobahn (A1 from Salzburg or Vienna) to the exit Ybbs or St. Pölten/Süd, then B 20 to Mariazeller Land.

From the south to Bruck/Mur - Kapfenberg, then B 20 over the Seebergpass into Mariazell country.

We start at the main square Mariazell and along the B20 to St. Sebastian, here we turn left just before the Billa on the L112 direction Erlaufsee. Shortly before the Erlaufsee turn right and cross the bridge in the direction of Mitterbach. Then we continue on the L170 to Mitterbach.

In the center of Mitterbach we turn left onto the B20 towards Annaberg. At the end of Mitterbach we already pass the Erlaufstausee - here we have the opportunity to take a break at the Erlaufstauseeschänke (please note the opening hours!).

Now follows also already the first easy ascent, before we come to the first real ascent to the Josefsberg.

Afterwards, the trail goes steadily downhill or flat until Wienerbruck or Reith and Sägemühle. In Sägemühle we turn right onto the L101 towards Ulreichsberg.

In Ulreichsberg we turn right towards Walstern-Hubertussee and follow the road until we come to the beautiful Hubertussee (here or at the Wuchtlwirtin we can take a short break). Then we drive through the Rechengraben towards Mariazell, at the end of the Rechengraben we turn right again.

Shortly after we come to the Kreuzberg, here it goes again steeper uphill. Once we have passed the Kreuzberg, we are back at our starting point, the main square of Mariazell, after about 1.5 km.

Stop at the Wuchtlwirtin at Lake Hubertus, at the Erlaufstauseeschänke in Mitterbach or at one of the two restaurants at Lake Erlauf!
