The chalets are located in an absolutely quiet and idyllic setting – the perfect base for a holiday straight out of a picture book – nestled between Semmering and Mariazell.
In summer, numerous hiking trails and cycling paths lead towards Schneealm, Königskogel, Erlaufsee near Mariazell, and the Naßöhr nature reserve. The Ötschergräben nature park is also worth seeing. For younger guests, a trail to the Styrian Magic Forest is recommended, offering a mysterious glimpse into the landscape of the Mürzer Oberwald.
Culturally, the surroundings of Frein also have much to offer, such as the Neuberger Münster with its high Gothic hall church (including a unique wooden roof structure and completely preserved cloister) and the Kaiserhof glassworks with its glassblowing demonstration, or the Mariazell Basilica (not just for pilgrims).
During the cold season, the nearest ski area is not far away. Both cross-country skiing, snowshoeing, and tobogganing are popular activities you can pursue in Frein. On long winter nights, a dreamy walk through the wintry landscape and a visit to the Mariazeller Advent Market are recommended.
Of course, there are also cultural events and sights throughout the year, such as the Alpaca Mountain Paradise and the Ski and Woodcutter Museum.
