Naturkundemuseum Mariazell
Mariazell
Visit the new Natural History Museum and be surprised by the variety of topics and exhibits.
The new natural history museum in the Mariazell Heimathaus provides an insight into the diversity of fauna and flora and the early history of the pilgrimage site and its surroundings: prehistoric and early historic exhibits such as Roman coins, also objects from the Celtic period bear witness to the initial settlement of the area.
The museum houses exhibits and cave finds, and features numerous interactive applications, from bird quizzes to forest scent stations. Xylotheques are designed to help visitors explore native wood species from seed to fruit, and models of flowers made of resin illustrate the diversity of flora from the region.
