Greifvogelschau - Burg Oberkapfenberg
Kapfenberg
Experience the birds of prey at the castle falconry and observe the falconers at work with their hunting partners, the birds of prey.
From April to October, Wednesday to Sunday, at 11:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. On Thursdays, instead of flight shows, guided tours take place in the falconry (exceptions see castle calendar). Even in rain, strong wind, fog, or from 35°C outside temperature, an alternative program will be conducted.
The castle terrace of the Oberkapfenberg Castle boasts excellent wind and thermal conditions. This allows for nature-inspired free flights of eagles, vultures, and co. to become a spectacular experience. Several birds of prey also fly simultaneously, an experience that you can hardly find elsewhere in Europe. From early April to late October, from Wednesday to Sunday, at 11.00 a.m. and 3.00 p.m. (exceptions see castle calendar).
Tip: After the bird show, you can tackle the 10-minute climb to the Lorettokapelle and to the station of the mountain and nature watch in Kapfenberg.
For a large or small hunger, enjoy Burgkulinarik Kranawetter directly in Oberkapfenberg Castle or approximately 5 kilometers away, stop by Prieselbauer for great culinary delights, a petting zoo, and a large playground.
Meet the falconers up close:
Experience Falconry Days at Oberkapfenberg Castle – a 6-hour interesting, educational, and unforgettable program awaits you. From theoretical information – hunting, breeding, raptor knowledge, laws, diseases, care, history to a raptor show including lunch and drinks.
The castle falconry offers photo shoots with birds of prey such as snowy owls or falcons as well as animal sponsorships with a certificate and annual pass.
