Railway history on postage stamp – guest at the SÜDBAHN Museum!
The Austrian Post invites you to Philately Day at the SÜDBAHN Museum, combining philately with the fascinating history of the railway.
At the center is a commemorative stamp featuring the motif of the steam locomotive "Ajax" from the year 1841. To match this, there is a first-day cancellation that makes this special day a unique experience for stamp collectors.
Another highlight: A personalized stamp depicts the legendary steam locomotive "Steinbrück" from the year 1848. The "Steinbrück" is considered the oldest preserved steam locomotive built in Austria and is now on display at the SÜDBAHN Museum.
Anyone who wants to admire the legendary locomotives in person has the opportunity: The steam locomotive "Ajax" is exhibited at the Technical Museum Vienna. And the steam locomotive "Steinbrück" is at the SÜDBAHN Museum (on loan from the TMW).
